50 Chuseok

Synopsis

When Chang Sung Kim was commissioned to make a documentary for the 50th anniversary of the arrival of the korean community in Argentina, the actor begins a journey that reaches not only the past of his community but also his own story. In the Korean celebration of “Chuseok” people request and give thanks for the good harvest. The documentary traces the history of these 50 years of “good harvest” in Argentina, but in the process of film production Chang was carried far beyond its original purpose, dipping deep into his own past. So we discover the true story of "50 Chuseok": Chang's personal story becomes the protagonist. Having arrived with his family to Buenos Aires, just being a little child, more than 45 years ago and after 2 months on the ship that transported them from Sputh Korea, he has never returned to his homeland. The documentary will accompany him on this trip and will portray, with humor and nostalgia, this journey of introspection, this intimate review of his own life and re-construction of his Korean-Argentine identity.
