Synopsis
A woman who lives on the coast of Chubut, takes a trip towards the mountain range to find the tracks that his grandfather left, an ancient physician in the Cushamen region. On his tour, "Nahue" confirms why Dr. Juan Carlos Espina headed a political project that sought to counteract inequalities in the northwest of Chubut. The evidence of a continuity of the “campaign of the desert ” will provide a clear historical context for analyze the present of Patagonia.
Director's bio
Carlos Echeverría studied documentary film at the HFF Film University in Munich (Germany), where in 1982 he made his first film: “Situations at the limit”. He worked as a cameraman, editor, journalist and teacher. Living in Germany, he filmed “Cuarentena” (1983), based on the exile of Osvaldo Bayer. In the making of a documentary on the kidnapping of Juan Marcos Herman (1985) that occurred in July 1977, he was the first Argentine filmmaker to publicly expose - already in democracy - the Argentine military dictatorship of 1976-1983. The result of this work was his documentary "Juan, as if nothing had happened" (1987). Between 1990 and 1994 he was the producer of a dozen journalistic investigation reports that were broadcast through -Der Spiegel TV- (Germany) and the Telefé program “Plus Edition”. He later directed the documentaries "Los Chicos y la Calle" (2001), "Pacto de Silencio" (2006) and "Querida Mara, Letters from a trip through Patagonia" (2008). During 2009 he joined the production of the documentary series “Huellas de un Siglo” on Argentine Public TV, where he directed five chapters. From 2010 to 2016 he was Director of Radio Nacional Bariloche. He is currently a teacher in the Audiovisual Media area of the National University of Tierra del Fuego.
