Easy Ball

Synopsis

Hugo was a footballer as a young man. Now he is a taxi driver. The years and pounds have added up. One day Silvia and her son Julian take a ride in his taxi. As Hugo and Silvia strike up a relationship, he encourages the boy to pursue his football career. After three decades, this is his chance to be someone again.


Director's bio

Nicolás Suárez was born in Buenos Aires in 1987. Nicolás studied Film Script at ENERC and Literature Arts at UBA. He was a postdoctoral researcher at Conicet, also a postdoctoral fellow at DAAD (University of Cologne, Germany) and the Ibero-American Institute of Berlin. He won a fellowship at Bienal Arte Joven in Buenos Aires and also at the Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola in San Sebastián. He participated as a scriptwriter for different short films exhibited and awarded at various festivals. His short film “Centauro'” was selected at Historias Breves Competition and premiered at the Berlinale where Nicolás obtained a special mention. He also received, among others, the award for best short film at the Biarritz Festival. “Hijos Nuestros” is his first fiction feature film, which received awards at Mar del Plata, Málaga and Guadalajara filmfestivals. // Juan Fernández Gebauerwas born in Buenos Aires in 1989. Juan is a film director and theater actor, he studied Filmmaking at ENERC. He directed twelve short films, competing with many of them in national and international festivals: Condor de Plata Awards, Sao Paulo Latin American Film Festival and Jucheon Film Festival in Korea. His short film “El dorado de Ford” was one of the winners of the Historias Breves X contest and his first feature documentary, “Chaco”, was co-directed and co-produced with Ulises de la Orden and Ignacio Ragone. This film premiered at the Official Human Rights Competition of BAFICI 2017. “Hijos Nuestros” is his first fiction feature film, which received many awards while participating in Mar del Plata, Málaga and Guadalajara film festivals.
